Breeders of Champions
Marta and Rod have been married for over ten and a half years now. Each had a history with
dogs, in fact, that was the first thing we found mutually desirable.

Marta started her dog show career at the age of twelve, with a Beagle. She moved on to other
breeds and spent many years with Smooth Coated Collies, showing in the US of A and Canada
while she lived in South Dakota.

Rod got his first dog at the age of 4 years. He has not been without at least one since 1942.
Over the years his family raised a "Rat Terrier mix", Chow Chow, Great Dane, Irish Setter,
Samoyed, Schipperke and a Chihuahua. The Rat Terrier lived with Rod for 18 years and
outlived most of the other breeds.

In 1980 Rod obtained his first AKC Siberian Husky. Others soon followed and he was busy in
the show ring and ran a dog sled team for fun. Tibetan Spaniels followed for many year.

Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers came into our lives soon after we were married in 2000.
We also had Brittany's which worked in conformation, obedience and field trial. We have
been busy showing our dogs in AKC shows and have exhibited at Westminster with our Tollers
Rudy and Maizie. We have finished Championships on seven of our Tollers to date.

We also have Border Terriers and Kooikerhondjes. All our dogs work in conformation
showing, obedience and in the areas for which they were bred. The Borders work in Earthdog
activities. Marta has taken one of her dogs to his Master Earthdog title.

With Rod's 30 years of breeding show dogs, and Marta's a bit more, we have now a combined
total of 74 years of experience. We hope our records will show that we have been successful.

Seven years ago we built Ravenswood Kennel as our home. A log home is on 6 acres on a
mountain top with full facilities for the dogs. Yes they have their own room with 6 x 6 foot
runs, outside direct access, negative flow ventilation, two freezers for their raw diet, wash tub,
washer and dryer and even their own treadmill. There are three yard areas for the various
sized dogs, plus a large pasture for further exercise and training.

Ravenswood is our home and our dog's home.
